If you are coming then below is a list of Bugs along with “Must Have” flies. Though we can't possibly cover every stage of insect life on this list the basics will work. After that it's all fine tuning anyway. We always have an ample supply of many patterns available at the Fly Shop.


Spring - March-May:

Midges / Choronomids #24 -22 Darker colors for early season. Dark Dun / Grey / Black adults, emerger and pupa.

BWO Baetis #16-22 Dark grey wing with dark olive body. Olive “No Hackles” , traditionals, soft hackles, emergers and Parachute Adams.

Grannom Caddis #14-16, Dark brown/black bodies females with green egg sack. Elk hairs, Goddard's, fluttering caddis, etc.
Emerging and pupa patters also.

Ants #16-10 Black / brown. Foam, spun, epoxy or balsa bodies. Tape or cello wings for the bigger flying ants.

Nymphs #14-22 Dark brown bead heads, PT's, Flashbacks, Copper Johns, Midge Pupas, Prince, etc.

Streamers #8-4 Dark and Bright colors. Cone head buggers, ESL's, Clousers, Articulated Leech, Double Bunnies, etc.

Summer - June-Mid Sept:

Midges / Choronomids #24 Neon Green with white wing adult. Also Cream and Black. Grey / Black emerger and pupa.

PMD's #14-18 Wings get darker grey later season, body is pale yellow/grey. Parachute, Thorax, Compara or Emerging PMD's with trailing shuck, soft hackles and Rusty Spinners.
