Kootenai River Outfitters Location
KRO is located in Troy MT in the heart of the Cabinet Mountains. We are about as far north in the Rockies as
one can get in the lower 48. The Guest Ranch sits at the base of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness. Out the
"back door" is the Scotchman Peaks primitave / roadless area. To the north is British Columbia and to the west
the Idaho panhandle.
The area is defined by thick forest growth and high rugged mountains. Very few paved roads exist and those that do are separated by many miles.
Essentially at the southern end of the Canadian Rockies our ecosystem is wetter by far than most of Montana and therefore we generally do not suffer as much from the drought conditions that seem to be plauging the west. You will find our forests green and lush. Our river systems for the most part are glacier in nature.
